Hi People,

This is my first time on the site and I am looking for help.
I am a 28yr old single female looking to move to the Dominican preferably in the Sousa area.

I am looking for guidance re renting an apartment and jobs.

I have a background in Finance and have contacted a company re a job and they are happy with my cv.

Any advice would be appreciated!!
;)

Hi

You should first know the correct name of the place you are moving to. It's called the 'Dominican Republic'.

Yeah, you'll have a tough time finding " Sousa" anywhere in the DR, except the phone book!!!
It's Sosua, with the accent on the " U" .

good luck but go slow.

Read as much as you can in the Living section of this board.
It may not be easy to secure a job from outside the country.
Make sure your desired living standard is possible with what you'll earn...
(Things have become somewhat expensive here.)

BTW, what's your motivation to work here?

Janin

Welcome to the board.

Now we have my spelling mistakes out the way.

I would like to thank the people that have given constructive information.

My motivation is I worked in Spain for 2 years and then moved back and married my husband we have now split and I still have the desire to live in another country.

After spending time in the DR I felt that it would be a good place to live and experience another culture and life.

I am not naive and have spent lots of time travelling to different countries all over the world but feel I could make a life for myself in the DR.

I will take it very slow as found out the hard way living abroad that rushing into things gets you know where!!!

well come to DR1.
As a Dominican I welcome you with open arms.I have a few questions that will help some of us give you better info.
1 Why Sosua?
2 Do you have savings to last you about 6 months?
3 Hows your Spanish?
4 What is the ideal Job and what is your salary expectancy?
5 Will you need transportation?
6 Have you consider other Cites like Santo Domingo, Santiago, Bavaro, La Romana, Juan Dolio,
8 How long are you planing on staying?
9 How long was your last visit for, and where did you stay at?
10 Do you have any local friends or acquaintance that will guide you?
