Value of the peso

I could use some help from those of you with a little more understanding of currency issues. If the U.S. dollar continues to fall in relation to other world currencies, and the peso remains at about 33:1 to the dollar, is the peso then in effect losing it's value to purchase imported items? The Fernandez government seems satisfied, even pleased, to maintain the current exchange rate.

You need US$ to pay for oil, and no other currency... That is a big part of the explanation... The day that oil will be charged in swiss Francs or Yens, maybe the Dominican gvt shall take a better look at those respective exchange rates...
