Hey all, I am living in cabarete and my parents are coming to samana in december via a port stop on their cruise. What is there to do in a day in samana? All suggestions welcome!! Also, what is it like in samana?

Thanks!

Depending on the time you have - Salto Limon is a nice half-day trip.
30 mins by car from downtown Samana, 45 mins horse ride, 1 hour bathing in the lake, 45 mins horse back, 30 mins ride back - about 3 1/2 to 4 hours trip and you will see one of the nicest waterfalls in the DR.

Yeap, ride a mule to the Limon waterfalls (only if your parents can hike down/up the steps to get there, it has some steep steps)...check out the big bridge that's there in the town (walk by foot to cross and take a few good pics).....there's also the boat rides to some nice beaches found (I think) in Las Terrenas!!

I've only been there twice and I've yet to see the whales!!

Really, the town of Samana isn't really pretty and quite boring if you're used to Cabarete...but, enjoy your time there with them. The Dominican is an amazing place, if you just go searching beyond what the guidebooks merely tell you. Just EXPLORE and ask the locals, you'll find something good to do!
