Leaving in 27 days!!!!!Can't wait

I'm leaving on July 22nd to go to the DR for two weeks alone to visit my boyfriend and some friends. I am very excited. We will be staying in Higuey for a few days, then going to SD, and I don't know where else.
Is there any tips I should know before going? Customs, Advice,food, anything!! This is the first time I will be going and not staying on a resort, so I want to know as much as I can before going.

Hi Michelle-
At customs in the DR, when you apply for your tourist Visa, you will need $10. you will also need another $10 to get out. I'm leaving on July 11th. As long as you stick with your friends, you will be fine. There is a lot of great advice on this board, some you have gotten already. Have a safe, great trip! Can't wait to hear about it when you get home. I'm also going for 2 weeks. I come home on the 25th. Have Fun! Charlotte
