And they just happened to notice now?Did they really take 1000 square metres too much?

I'm not choosing sides or defending anyone, but it does make sense to me.Can anyone look into how a public park can be allowed to have a Casino built in it at all?

The deal is that they build a nice park for Sosua.
The old park was kind of ugly and useless.
The land is certainly big enough to accommodate both the casino and the park, IMHO.
I really don't know what it's going to look like when it's finished, but I presume they will make it look good, to attract client?le.I suppose the new Casino/Convention Centre is aesthetically pleasing if you enjoy looking at a 6 story cement bunker on the way to the beach.

Beauty's in the eye of the beholder.I disagree that the old park was ugly. It was a very pleasant, shaded place to walk through on a hot day. It wasn't used much, and wasn't as well mainteined as it should have been, but it was 1000% more aesthetically pleasing and useful than what we have been looking at since they cut down most of the trees, and turned the once pleasant park into a very ugly, completely useless Sosua landmark.
Before they even started construction, they tore up the park. That still makes no sense to me.
As far as the new park is concerned, if it is as shown in the plans that were posted when they tore up the old park, I predict it will not get much use. The reason is that most of the trees that provided shade were cut down, leaving the majority of what is to be the park open to the hot sun. No doubt they will import a bunch of palms, but they provide very little shade. Certainly nothing to compare to those wonderful old trees with widely spreading branches that shaded the entire are previously.
I thought my statements were pretty clear, that I'm talking about the finished product.Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But I hope you are not saying that what we have been looking at for a very long time is more beautiful than what was there before they sent in the wrecking crew.

and I really don't know what it will look like after, but I hope that it will be pretty.
I must be typing with a stutter today.I think we all respect your opinion and insight, but cutting down 100+ year old trees is just bad karma.?.
As for cutting trees down, I'm always against that.
I?d be shocked if they paint the beast.
But then again, maybe they will paint trees on the sides.
I?ll go with the ?6 story cement bunker?.
So you would like to know if I find a construction site and an ugly deforested park, pretty. You were clear, Rocky, about hoping the future park will be pretty. We all want that.
But since you said the former park was ugly, I was interested in knowing what you think of the park now, and has it has been for far too long. Did sending in the wrecking crew years in advance make it better looking and more useable?
Just a test to see how much we differ in our beholder's eye.
The trees were pretty.Yes, Rocky, you said you were against cutting down trees. But since the park formerly was mainly trees and you said the park was ugly, you have to expect some questions.
