Hi,
Was not sure where to post this so as being on the north coast - thought I?d try here. Anyone seen the comet that has just apparently exploded and can be seen somewhere in the northern sky ?. Can it be seen from here or are we too far south ? There seem to be many folks on this forum that are filled with all the aspects of life here in the DR and thought one could tell us where to look for said comet named 17p-Holmes.

thanks,

Check the mid-northeastern sky, near Perseus. It'll appear a bit bigger than a star, but fuzzy. You don't need a telescope to see it.

For those non-astronomers, 17P/Holmes is a comet that is in the process of breaking apart. The (mostly dust and small fragment) debris field around what's left of the comet is roughly the same diameter as earth, which is why it's visible.
