DR withdrawal, Need a fix

I just looked at my passport and "Holy Crap", I haven't been to the DR since September 1998. That's it, I will be going this September but can't decide on Santo Domingo or Sosua so why not both. Guess I can fly into SDQ stay a few days and then take a bus to Puerto Plata and cab over to Sosua. Then fly back from POP. Yes that way I will be able to drink Presidente Grandes in La Ceniza(La Ruta Cervecera) and ponder some questions; how is it that I can drink 4 grandes and still not have to urinate? Why can I eat from the street venders and never get sick? Why do I feel more at home in Santo Domingo than I do at home? Why does the poorest kid on the street in Santo Domingo look happier than the richest person back in the states? As I ponder some of these questions I will visit my old University that I attended in Santo Domingo 82 thru 85. I also will visit UNIBE as it now seems to be the school of choice for US Med students in S.D. today. I hope to meet ECH,MD while in S.D. and solve a few world problems over a couple cold ones.

Then on to Sosua to stay at JJ's hotel and lay on the beach a few days and just relax beyond belief.

Just thinking out loud. Milo

You do know that someone posted here a month or so ago that JJ passed on don't you?

I don't know the status of his motel, but the two times I met the man he was more fun than the rest of the trip. I got into so much trouble, one of the girls with us (2 couples) got really pissed at me as I would not move from the table where I was drinking Presidente and talking with the man. Also had a great swim eating calm dip and drinking Presidente with his Akida. (Does anyone know what happened to the dog that would "bring" you to breakfast?)

Yes Milo, your Dx is correct. It is definitely withdrawal and I urgently advise you to correct the problem.Weather is great if somewhat hot during the day. I continue to enjoy retirement to the max here. So come on down!!!!!!BTW, when vacationing here I used to come to SDQ first and then Metro to Sosoua and fly back out of Puerto Plata. Good connections and great way to vacation.

I did not know until today that JJ passed away. It makes me sad.
I missed the post when it happened. I too would like to know what happened to that nice dog.

I will bring the wife if I can get her a visa. We will go to INS on the 19th and apply for advanced parole. If that works great, if not she will hang out with friends in Miami. She is happy either way because like many latin women she was born happy.

Apparently the dog is in the care of Agripina (sp) the maid, housekeeper, cook etc when JJ was alive.

That dog actually scratched on my door one Sunday morning (After a night drinking and eating clam dip by the pool with me) and escorted myself and 3 others to breakfast, turning and "herding" us if we didn't go fast enough. he knew where the leftovers came in.

In January, I was in Sosua and had lunch across the Street (I didn't see JJ around) the Akida came over and received his "usual" leftovers. He never begged, but seemed to know when I was done and it was his turn. The dog was getting a bit slow with age at that time, I rather fear for his well being at the present
