Hi all
I will be in Santiago for a few days in December and would like a hotel that is central and more upscale. Most of the threads I have read are more geared towards budget low cost hotels(not my bag).
I don't mean to sound pretentious but I like to feel comfortable and safe.Any recommendations on a good hotel maybe with a pool and restaurant/bar.
Thanks

Hodelpa Gran Almirante Hotel & Casino is the nicest hotel in Santiago. There is also a Marriott Courtyard near the airport.

Them two are the best, unless they open the Gran Cibao between now and then.

For Centrally Located, the Gran Almirante is your best bet....closer to most things and in town, not 14 klicks out of town. Phone number is 809 580 1992

I had to stay at the Gran Almirante for a couple of nights late last month (after our flight was cancelled by AA for two consecutive days-but that's news for another thread). I also agree the staff was pleasant and professional. The hotel and the Casino are both classy, spacious, clean and seem to be very well run. I left my passport in the room after checking out the second day and when i called from a relative's home, I was informed they were awaiting my call and had my passport at the front desk waiting for me. When i checked in at the airport the following morning I found out they had also informed the airline at the time it was found.

I just had a friend stay in the Aloha Sol. He loved it. Said the rooms were clean, hotel well managed and he felt safe. It's on la calle del sol.

If you DO NOT have a cedula or "significant other" with one, may I suggest you use the number on their website, it will save you the TAX!
Toll Free 1-888-403-2603

It gets booked through a Wholesaler in Toronto called "Perfect Destinations", that handles their North American reservations.
