Need Advise on bringing Household items to Punta Cana

I have recently puchased a Condo in Punta Cana and will be traveling back there soon for the first time since the purchase.
Although the furniture is already there,I do want to bring some typical household items (ie Stereo,LCD TV, computer etc.) from the USA
Does anyone have advise with regards to airport procedure?
1. Is it ok to just pack these things in a suitcase and go?
2. Will I get whacked with a duty fee?
Any advise is appreciated !

The Christmas Duty-Free Period is almost upon us. Then you can bring in up to $2500 in goods, tax free.

I'd think twice about bringing an LCD TV in a suitcase...but, hey, it's yours!
