Hello everyone.

I have searched through forum and found some addresses and phones of dentists but still have some questions; it will be great if somebody can provide information:

1) I'm looking for a great dental clinic in SD, perhaps the best (price doesn't matter). I think it should be some kind of US representative. I need to do tooth filling and to put brackets (is this the right word?).

2) I don't have insurance (since whole insurance thing is a huge lie and in DR - especially), but maybe it is better to buy one before visiting doctor?

I really don't know much about dental clinics, insurance system, prices and other stuff here, so please don't apprehend my questions wrong (if something is silly or terribly wrong - please do correct me).

Thanks a lot

I would suggest that you look for "Estomat?lagos"...these are dentists trained at the PUCMM in Santiago, often with specialized training abroad. Many can handle English.
The reason I suggest this is that their preparation is towards saving your teeth, not extracting them.
If you need braces--to straighten your teeth--then you will need a specialist called an "odont?logo" .

There are many good dentists in Santo Domingo. And you will find that their fees are reasonable.

There's a great new MODERN American-Style dental Clinic in Juan Dolio.
She is Dominican but speaks English and is very professional.
Her name is Dr. Maxcel Diaz de Yuketiel 809 526-2228. The clinic is in Plaza Luna and by far, it is the cleanest and most modern clinic I've been in since arriving here 19 months ago (and we've had LOTS of dental work done.) She does NOT accept insurance but is worth it. Tell her Dra. Cristina sent you--it may get you in faster. PM me if you need directions.

May I Suggest "Amerident" In Santo Domingo????

It is located at the intersection of 27 de Febrero, and Av. Tiradentes. Second floor of "Plaza Merengue" At the top of the ONLY stairs going to the second floor.
They have a "LOT" of good dentists!
In August,my 10 year old son was playing at school recess. A STUPID "Chino-Dominicano" threw a huge rock, and broke off my son's two front teeth! I took him to "Amerident". They took X-Rays,did two emergency root canals, and gave him two temporary "Front Teeth"!
As foir the insurance,"GET SOME!"
The costs for all my son's dental work was about 40,000 pesos,of which the insurance paid half!
We have a "Family Policy" with SDS, Located on Av Maximo Gomez, across the street from Supermercado National. I have 4 kids, and the Medical Insurance has been "Berry Berry Gud To ME!)
If you go to ANY dental clinic(Most private offices don't accept insurance!) be sure and check before you have any work started!!!!

Thank you for terms (braces, odont?logo, Estomat?lagos). I have read that you recommend some doctors in Santiago (which you were teaching). Maybe you can give some specific name of the clinic in Santo Domingo?

Thanks, Criss!
I'll sure do visit them today.
Maybe you know if they're doing braces?

Yes They DO!

I have meet the young dentist that does "Braces". He gave my son a VERY Complete exam. He called in two other dentist to see if they concured with his "Plan"! You can also make a "Payment Plan" so you don't have to pay all at once!

Good Luck!
As I indicated, you can just "Walk-in". But it is important that you have your insurance FIRST! AND check to be sure that your insurance pays at that sspecific clinic, and for the work you need done!
