Hola all

Are there any direct gua guas or transport between Luperon and Monte Cristi, or will I have to backtrack to PUerta Plata?

Any recommendations on places to stay in Monte Cristi around the 20-40USD mark (just need basic clean room with fan). Using public transport so needs to be relatively central.

Any views on excursions or tour agencies or guides to the National Park, and again, is there access by public transport?

I'd recommend Hostal San Fernando; past the marina and up the hill towards El Morro. Look for the red roof.

San Fernando has a great pool and is reasonably priced ...the restuarant is limited on what they serve, but also good. The best priced hotel that is most centrally located is the Chic Hotel ...very cheap but clean rooms ...patio restaurant attached, ice cream, internet, phone cafe attached, and about a block from Caribe tours.
