I am flying from the UK to Punta Cana arrive 24th Jan 2008,then onto SD.Is ther anyone who would like to share a taxi to SD from Punta Cana.I have heard its a 4 hr drive...
Is that the best way to travel or get to SD

If the price is your concern you might want to try Caribetours.

A charter bus company thats more comfortable and a fraction of the cost.

A taxi is only good for a quicker arrival.

Caribe Tours does not go to Punta Cana from Santo Domingo and vice a versa.

There are plenty of threads on this.

Use the search function.

The bus

Just ask in the hotel or ask anyone on the street where is the bus to Santo Domingo. If I remember right the bus leaves every hour. Make sure to get on the express buss.

I rode it about a month ago and it was comfortable. A bit cold and the movie was a bit too violent for my taste. Much better than taking a taxi. You can't see the road and you will not be a nervous wreck when you arrive in the capital by watching all the crazy drivers.

Express bus leaves feom Friusa 4 times daily:
7am, 10am, 2pm and 4pm from Punta Cana to SD.

Yes, be warned...it is freezing cold!

You cant beat the price vs paying for a taxi!

Is it safe ...

It may be a silly question,but is it safe on the bus from Punta Cana to SD with all your luggage etc..

Of course "safety" anywhere is not guaranteed....having said that, I have never myself experienced any problems ever or heard of any from friends. Your suitcases are stowed in the storage area beneath the bu and you are responsible for taking care of your carry-ons so to speak.
