Ok here is the deal. Me and my buddy are making our first trip to the DR. We are both 24 and single. We love to party and we are really into the club scene. We're from New York so we're used to a lot going on. Since we have Jet Blue vouchers we can fly into santiago or santa domingo. This is where we are stuck. We have heard good things about cabarete on the north coast but we also know that santa domingo is a big city with lots to do. Where do we go for the most/best clubs, girls, basically the best scene filled with young people that just want to have a good time? If anyone has any recommendations we would really appreciate it.

There's no correct answer to your question.
Santo Domingo & Santiago are big cities and clearly will have more nightlife, yet they are difficult to manage for a newbie, specially if you don't speak the lingo, making Cabarete seem like a better option, but it's a small town.
It's your call.

Cabarete's good for a casual, beachfront, young (18-30 yr old), mixed crowd... Dominican, European, and North American. Lax, Onno's, & Bambu are good on any Friday/Saturday night. Voy Voy on Monday nights. Beach bars are open until 3 a.m. seven nights a week. Casino disco open 'til sunrise. During any time but low season, there's a bar/disco scene 7 nights a week.

Santiago... I'd say skip it as a final destination.

The capital? Lots of bars/discos. Check out BONCHE.com | Aqu? est? la fiesta. Primera pagina exclusiva de eventos en Republica Dominicana. for some idea of what's happening there.

Anyhow... think the capital for big city nights out.
Think Cabarete for laid back, funky, bohemian anything goes atmosphere.

i would look into the possibility of catching the bus or a taxi from Santiago to Caberete and then back for your return flight.
if you stay in Santo Domingo you could do Boca Chica or Juan Dolio (beaches) by day and Santo Domingo by night. a short taxi or guagua ride to the beach from Santo Domingo.
tough choice but for a first timer i think either would be great. lots of experenced people on this site to steer you in the right direction. i would also immediately look into the hotel situation as soon as possible.

Ok here is the deal.

OK, here is the deal from a jersey guy. Book the tickets to STI, call JJ for transpotation to Sosua or Cabarete. The North Coast is a nice place to start.

Hotel Choice? Do a search, there is a great list of hotel "guest friendly" by Apos.

just a little more info would help direct the answers.

is this JUST a party-night life vacation..or do you want it next to teh beach for day time activities as well?

because the only place close to NYC life would be Santo Domingo

lots more options for night life...but you would need to speak decent spanish to mingle there.

I would leave out Santiago for this trip.....it doesnt have 25% of Santo Domingos night life scene.

if you really want the beach and sand and sun scene as well...then you ahve a more difficult choice.......

almost all your choices on the north coats will be rinky dinky bars and clubs and "discos".....no hard and heavy duty "CLUBS" to speak of...

the women pickings will be easier "probably"....I say probably because if you speak great spanish you hit all kinds of home runs in the Capital.

good luck

i think i would vote for santo domingo. It sounds like the OP is looking more for a club scene reather than beaches. My NYC friends get bored fast in the beach spots.

If you stay in santo domingo you can have the party scene at night...and if you want you can head out to some of the near by beaches durring the day or just walk around the city..the malecon and zona colonial etc.

Sounds like the OP is more about finding a cosmopolitan scene to me.

So Cabarete is perfect for nightlife and beach during the day, and a 10 minute ride to Sosua!

That's my thinking too, specially for newbies who don't speak the language, and it's not as if they couldn't find a zillion activities in the area to keep them busy.

while i agree with skipping Santiago for a first visit and that even though Santo Domingo is excellent it is overwhelming and too complicated; why not fly into POP if you are coming on or after the 10th? that way you can avoid the longer and more expensive journey by taxi or bus. it's 10 minutes and $20 from puerto plata airport to Sosua and not much longer and only a little more expensive to Cabarete.

strange the OP only seems to had replies from the male members of the forum!!!

ha ha ha

if the op got answers to the questions asked from 2 single guys looking to meet chicas and have a FUN time.... we would all have our eye brows raised if some of the women started giving advice and answers!! ha ha

plus how can the actually posters who replie control who doesnt reply? that is crazy stuff whirelybird... ha ha ha

If you want... go ahead at let us know where to meet some hot free living easy chicas in either of the towns mentioned and we will be forever indebted to you.........now dont speculate.....you have to give it to us from first hand knowledge ha ha ha

carry on
