Merry christmas everyone
I have just recently purchased two items on ebay and the delivery costs are triple what they cost. A friend suggested an EPS delivery. Apparently there is a company in Bavaro Punta Cana and possibly in Higuey (which would be even better) that specialises in this type of delivery. I am new to this but it gets delivered to a po.box number in miami then shipped to here. Is this right? Is it expensive? and does anyone know the companies name, location, or contact details? Please help

EPS in Higuey is right behind Banco BHD (Parque) and in front of Pala Pizza, 2 blocks from police station.

The cost is:
600 pesos yearly membership. You get your own EPS box number.

You then use this EPS box number + their Miami warehouse address to get packages and mail sent to you.

Cost: About 180 pesos per pound. The more weights the shipment, less expensive it gets per pound. Minimum is about 90 pesos per pound, on bulky heavy items. Fraction of pound is calculated at fraction of cost (after 1st pound).

For mail, 80 pesos per piece. Watch your junk mail or it gets costly.

You get your own access to EPS website where you can track packages sent to you and you also get email notifications (sometimes).

After shipment gets to EPS Miami, if it is received in the morning, next day it is in Santo Domingo. If easy customs, next day in Higuey.

Items under US$200 of value are exempt from import duties and tax (ITBIS). Books, CDs, DVDs, etc, clothes, personal items, even over US$200.

Electronics, car parts, etc., over US$200 you pay import duties. Those are quite arbitrarily set, but are always less than whatever the real duty + ITBIS on that item should be. For example, on a cellphone, it's about 600 pesos import duty on expensive cellphones you pay to EPS. Camcorder, about 1000 pesos. It's not based on any percentage of value, again it's arbitrary, but again, always less than the official published duty in customs guidebook.
