Hi everyone !

We're planning to go to Pico Duarte at the end of january with friends.
Does anyone know if it's ok and safe after tormentas Noel & Olga ?
Couldn't find info about it...
Thanks ;-)

I was on the Pico end of march 2004 and one night we had minus 3 degrees Celsius, so take warm clothes.
We went up from La Cienaga, near Jarabacoa, and enjoyed the tour even we were unlucky with the weather.

Thanks !

Went to Jarabacoa yesterday to see rancho baiguate. Seems that Pico Duarte is ok.. We'll go there at the end of january, 4 days ("Pico relax" as they say !)
For sure we'll bring warm clothes ;-)
I'll post some pics

I forgot to mention that shoes are an important issue. Make sure you have hiking shoes which give a good foothold and keep them dry in case of rain.
We started at Rancho Baiguate as well, had a good guide and 2 helpers for the mules with the luggage.
Unfortunately it rained the complete first day up to 'La Comparticion' where we stayed overnight twice, rained the next day up to the Pico as well and only the second night the weather changed and we could enjoy the view.
Good luck.
