    Default Appropriate Wedding Gift

We were told cash is an appropriate wedding gift in the Dominican Republic. Can any one suggest an appropriate amount? The couple is in there 40's, well established, home, car grown children etc.

Skip the envelope and buy something just like you would in your country for them, is going to be cheaper and won't make you look cheap...

A well established cash wedding gift runs in the upper thou, so it's not in your best pocketbook interest to go that way...
One Dominican at a time please!

Although I did cringe a bit at Pichardo's "cheap" comment, I have to agree that for a couple in their 40's it might not be taken in the same way as if they were a young couple that have to decorate a new home... If you can afford it, a a paid weekend at a resort is a good option if you want to offer something different. If you're looking for something less expensive, then a nice docoration for the home is a good option or maybe a gift certificate to a Spa...
