A few years back someone had brought me a beautiful guira from Santo Domingo, made by guillermo guira, what the real tipico bands use. I'd like to add to that and purchase a tambora, something authentic. Does anybody know where in Santiago I can purchase such a thing?

I bought my first tambora in Santo Domingo @ Mercado Modelo. It is semi professional and was tuned professionally and sounds pretty good.

There is a music school called "Drums" in Santiago that will know where to purchase percussion equipment. Pablo is the owner and the number I found on here is 809-581-3741.

Go to a tipico and talk to the tamborista, he will tell you where to purchase a new/used one or even offer you his after the show for a price!

Hopefully one of the local DR1 Santiaguerros can direct you to an actual music store!
