There are specific areas which qualify for the 10 year tax relief (including stretches from El Catey to Las Terrenas, Las Galeras, Miches Punta Cana, Baharona (sp..?) amongst others). This depends upon the size of investment and is appraised by 3 different govt. departments and includes environmental impact studies, both economic and ecology.... Relief includes benefits for CapEx gains, ITBIS, tax relief on importing items for construction e.g. heavy machinery (these have to be re-exported after the project is completed, if it stays in the country and gets sold, their is a tax liability). Av. size of investments I have seen qualify are normally projects in excess of $US50m.

Did you search in English or Spanish? I searched in Spanish and 152,000 links came up! Ley 16-95 Ley de Inversi?n Extranjera is here ( & Reglamento de Aplicaci?n 2004)
http://www.cedopex.gov.do/pdf/leyes/LEY_16-95_Inversion_extranjera_en_rep_dom.pdf

There are a whole lot more docs. worth reading and more recent commentaries - do your search in Spanish and you'll find them in seconds. I'd give English searching a miss, if this is what caused your problem - the DR Government only emits its laws in Spanish. :cheeky:

Excellent research/info as usual Lambada, I only searched for the ley in Spanish but not the rest, you are right, I wont search in English again, but I had so much other research to do on other connected things I was exhausted by the time I reached that stage, many thanks for the help.
