Can anyone tell me the approximate driving time between Puerto Plata and Luperon and the state of the road? Also, I have only driven from Puerto Plata to Santiago. Is it hard to find the turn off west toward Luperon when the road takes a turn south to Santiago?
Thanks

You turn right at the Texaco bomba ( gas station on your left ) as you go downhill.
It all depends on your driving stile when it comes to timing...

From POP to Luperon is about an hour, half of that being after leaving the main highway. The condition of the road outside POP is generally good, but the Luperon is very curvy. The first exit for Luperon has a sign, and appears on the right as you pass through a major sugarcane field. The second exit is at the Texaco crossroads in Imbert. Once on this Luperon road you will not turn off again, just keep going until you reach the speedbumps, and your are in Luperon. A couple blocks after the speedbumps and school you will come to a 4 way with Anna's grocery on the right and Lettie's Bar and Restaurant caty corner on the left. That is the center of the mecropolis called Luperon. Watch out for livestock and enjoy the scenic drive!

About 1 km after the turnoff at the Texaco in Imbert, there is a fork in the road, you need to hang a left.

Going south from PP on the main road, in the direction of Santiago there will be a sign on the right to turn right for Luperon. Start looking for it when you first see the sugar cane fields on the right. If you go to Imbert, it means you went a little too far, make that right at Imbert. The road is usually very good.
