Status of Herrera Airport-Flights to POP

I am arriving in Santo Domingo on August 9. I would like to take a plane to Puerta Plata for a couple of days and then back to Santo Domingo. I understand that there were scheduled flights from Herrera Airport but I also heard that this airport was under contruction and the name was changed. Can anyone clarify this? Does anyone know if I can get a flight to POP and if so the approx. cost?
Appreciate any info you can give me.

Herrera airport is still open, it has the same name and is located on the Luperon Avenue in Santo Domingo
