My recommendation is to go to Servi-Med in Cabarete or to Centro Medico Bournigal in Puerto Plata.

Is there something in particular you need a doctor for? If so, tell us what it is and we can make better suggestions.

We have been to CMB in Puerto Plata many times and been pleased with the treatment there. However after last time we are not pleased. Perhaps we just got the wrong doctor (or not). That's why we are looking for another clinic.

Within one month my husband was hospitalized at CMB twice for lungproblems. First time they treated him for respiratory infection and the second time for bronchitis. I'm not sure the diagnoses were correct. Shortly after he has been released from the hospital he starts to feel sick again. His symptoms are flema going down the throat, tiredness and no appetite. No appetite makes him even sicker, as he gets weaker and weaker because he can't eat.

Anyways, now we are suspecting that his health problems may be mould related. The apartment we are renting was renovated (=painted) before we moved in, but the furniture was not changed. Possibly there is mould in the sofa and he gets sick from that. Like most men he likes to lie on the sofa. For a few days now he has avoided the sofa and feels better day by day. He has also started to eat a little again.

We have used Dr. Nelson Gil for 20 years for general medicine. He also looked after my daughter since 1 year old until she was 15. Even made house calls in emergencies (we lived very close) . Speaks excellent English, Spanish and I believe some German. If needs be he will refer you to a specialist. He will also take all the time in the world to explain to you what the problem, ramifications and the options for treatment. He has stitched us up on several occasions, done ultra sounds scans, and in an emergency situation saved a family member with and adrenalin injection required because a doctor from Puerto Plata prescribed a pain pill that caused a violent allergy reaction causing eyes and throat to close up followed by collapse and total body spasms. A nice guy. Get his Tel# so in an emergency you can call first and he will be ready when you get there. HE IS A LOT CLOSER than Puerto Plata

He is great and will not hesitate to refer you to specialist if needed.

Ditto. Probably the best equipped clinic in the area. I have my cardiologist at CMB but in a pinch I wouldn't (didn't) hesitate to go to him. Got my BP down and sent me home. And yes his rates are very decent.
