I will be on a cruise ship which has an 8 hr stopover at Catalina Island from 9.00am to 5.00pm . Will I be able to buy a tourist card when I step off the ship. If so, is the procedure streamlined enough to warrant this given the short stay or should I just resign myself to spending the day in the ships library.

Tourist card not needed..........

They're not for sale on Catalina Island however since it is an island you won't need a tourist card to go ashore for the day......unless of course you intend to 'Jump Ship' and take a launch to the mainland!;)
