Swimming pool lights

As a guy who has customised some sportfishing boats, check out LED lighting for boats. A great light should run about 1200US, install it and enjoy.

Just a follow up...OceanLED has nice lights, quality and avariety. Most are used for mega yachts or fishing rigs, but to me would be great in a pool.

Have you consulted Ochoa in Santiago? They have a guy, Enriquillo, I think his name is, who is their pool specialist...He is on Avenida Imbert, the main store.
Or LUMICON in Santiago, as they are lighting specialists: 809 226 5754. they did the lights at the Santiago Airport and HOMS....JIC

"Basic" or "traditional" style pool lights come at a fraction of these LED lights...
Still, something you might want to consider is consumption:, especially when you are talking about such a large amount of lights (how large is that pool?):
The large standard pool lights which sell from USD 140.oo and up (replacement bulb USD 30.oo) go at 300Watts and 500Watts a pop!! Small halogen lights which sell just above USD 100.oo (replacement bulbs USD 1.oo to 12.oo depending on life expectancy) go at 50Watts and 100Watts a pop but don't have a comparable lightning power. LED systems which sell around USD 400.oo to 500.oo reach only about 25Watts of consumption and they may outlast your pools life. (All these prices are IN the US).

Be sure to use ONLY 12V systems (110V systems are indeed available).

I have seen the basic style traditional (300 and 500W) pool lights for sale in many ferreterias like 8-A (as Hillbilly mentioned), Hache, Americana and smaller pool supply stores around the country... but haven't checked on the price(s) yet.

LED burns a fraction of the juice incurred by other conventional lights, give off much more light and have longer life of the bulb. Tht?s why they are used on boats, where power consumption is always an issue. One good LED light will light your entire pool quite well. Check out photos on OceanLED?s site or any others, and even in ocean water offshore ther is a circle of light around the vessel.

LED's will burn about 7 times less "juice" for a similar or better lightning power. They will also outlast most bulb's lifetime by years... many years! The replacements come expensive, today... almost as expensive as the whole light assembly... but then, one may be inclined to bet, that in 10 to 20 years... (which could be the life expectancy when used a few hours a day), prices could have changed drastically.

A good LED pool light may light up a 4x8 (meters) pool. Actually, just as 2 300W standard pool lights are preferable for this size and up to 5x9m, 2 LED spots would also be more appropriate.

Campesina, There are two stages to this problem : 1) do you need to replace the housings in the wall of the pool. 2) Do you just want to reduce the consumption by replacing with LED Lights ?

Step one : identify what type of housings you have like Pentair Hayward Light Fixture (12v,) - spares such a gaskets and other parts are available so make an inventory of the 32 lights and identify what is needed to repair the housings.
Step 2 : look for LED replacements bulbs that fit your housings and are the right voltage (12 Volt) such as Wyzm 12volt Color Changing 35watt Swimming Pool Lights Led Bulb For Pentair Hayward Light Fixture (12v, 35w) On Alibaba these are $20 to $50 each

The repair to the housings was done a TropiTerrama a couple of years ago and has been fine.

I recommend not using Alibaba for anything - just my experience as nothing ever arrived

Here in Punta Cana, we had the lights replaced when they repainted the pools last year. Each pool has 3 lights and we converted them to LED and our lighting budget has gone down significantly. The lights are much brighter than the incandescent lights that were replaced and the other bulbs needed replacements constantly. Pools are so much prettier and safer with night-time lighting. Ours on are on timers and come-on around 6:45 PM and turn-off automatically at 11:00 PM to coincide with the posted pool hours. Was a good investment for our HOA.
