Hi,
My husband and I are planning a trip volunteering in the DR starting sometime in August and lasting probably until end of December. We are just starting our planning. We are both willing to help out in whatever ways needed... Does anyone know a good resource for volunteers in the Dominican Republic and/or any places we should specifically check out or maybe even avoid?

Many thanks.

Dream Project is the way to go, if your in Cabarete, or near it. If you on the south coast, you'll have to ask someone who lives there.

Try Crossroads

I volunteered with them in the summer of 2006. They have a house where you stay in the village with the other volunteers as well as with the community. You help with the children, building homes, at the school they have in the village, and with the fair trade co-op where women make things to sell for an income. PM me if you want more info.

I believe the website is Home
