Hi everyone,

This is my first post so I hope I am not resurrecting an old questions.:eek:

I need your help. I will be taking a trip to Santiago in about 2 months. While there, I would like to have cellular phone service. Can anyone recommend a good cellular phone service provider? I would prefer GSM. I heard Orange has this service. Can anyone advise me?

regards,

Miguel

Orange ™

Orange uses GSM exclusively and caries a prepay (pay as you go) plan too.
You can bring your UNLOCKED GSM (Chip) phone if it is tri-or-quadri-band or buy a cheap basic Nokia for RD$ 800.oo with a new card (phone number) and about RD$100.oo or 150.oo credit on it already at most any Orange outlet. Just need the cash and a photo ID.

Codetel :: Comunicaci?n sin L?mites

Codetel (previously Verizon) used PCS so far. They have announced that they will switch to GSM and also offer a prepay plan. I have not checked if they already did, but the deal(s) they will offer will be similar to above Orange deal.

Claro does run GSM since last July. All the network where they has CDMA does also have GSM.

If you're coming from North America, you do not need a tri band or quad band phone, because most likley your phone is already 1900 MHz. Those coming from Europe need 3b or 4b phone.
