Maintain Claro Prepaid Service

Hi,

A couple of questions about the Claro pre-paid phones, if you will:

Will this phone work outside of the RD, specifically will it work in the US?

Am I correct to assume that the number will be cycled away from the phone if the pesos expiration time limit is exceeded?

How can one keep the Claro prepaid telephone number activated if away from the DR for several months?

Thanks,

Memo

Good question

I am also interested in at least maintaining my Claro number for future use.

PS I'm in Canada if that makes any difference?

Good question - agreed

I too have been thinking about buying my "own" Dominican pre pay phone which would need to be kept activated between trips. I hope someone can help us with info?

I have a Claro prepaid phone. No, it won't work outside the DR.

I leave my phone together with phone cards with someone to protect my number. She uses it about once a month and that suffices.

I understand they are more flexible now in how long you can go without using it and still protect your minutes and numbers but no one, including Claro offices, can give me any specific information.

Hope this helps.

Can you use the internet...

to add minutes?
ie: once a month buy and add some time at the Claro/Codetel website using a credit card?
