Santo Domingo-born boxer, 21-year old Kelvin de la Nieve will be the only representative of Spain in the boxing events of the Beijing Olympics. Kelvin has lived in Huelva, Spain since he was 11 years. He fights in the mini fly weight (48 kilos) category. De la Nieve won the right to represent Spain in a final Olympic qualifying event held in April in Athens, Greece. He had tried at 17 years to make it to the Athens, Olympics but failed to qualify. He has been boxing since 15 years. He had tried earlier in competitions in Chicago and Italy. There is a saying in Spainish, ?a la tercera va la vencida,? the win comes on the third try, and that was how it would be for De la Nieve. He defeated Mumin Veli from Macedonia (13-9).
