If you are a woman and marry a Dominican man, you can apply for citizenship by way of the Ministry of Interior and Police. Because you will only be dealing with one government department, the procedure has less steps than applying for residency via the Migration Department. The process is also simpler because there is no "provisional citizenship," as in the case of "provisional residency," the intermediate step to getting the full residency. If you are a man that marries a Dominican woman, the shorter citizenship procedure does not apply. Once you get citizenship, you can apply for a passport.
