Someobody was just asking me all about that, and whether Dr. Wendy Juma did root canals, and how much.
I don't know the exact prices, but I do know that she does them and does a good job, and that it cost way way less than in the US.

Root canal

Wendy does not do root canals. She refers clients to someone in Puerta Plata. Clinica Gomez in Sabaneta does root canals for RD$2,000. I have had several done there.

If you want a Specialist that only does Root Canal in Santiago I could recommend one. His equipment is equal or better than any US dentist, and he is in business over 25 years. You will pay more than you will is Sosua, but he is one of the best in country for what you want.

Dr. Manuel Paulino Endodoncia Crugia Para Endodontica

Get on a bus, take a taxi to Calle Sabana Larga, between Beller and Restauraci?n, go to the Cl?nica Dental Cibao, see Dr. Rita Mu?oz,(Located next to a parking lot for small buses that go to Jarabacoa and La Vega) Best root canal in the world...You will never regret this..

I was one of Wendy Juma's professors and always recommend her work there in Sosua..

HB, who know dentists...(and who should visit one soon!!)

Seeing an endodontist (root canal specialist) will almost gaurantee a pain free experience. There are dentists who can do just as well, but not all will. Getting the novacaine all the way to the end of the roots requires a specific expertise.

If you want to stay close to Sosua my husband and I have had great service from the German dentist who works in the ServiMed offices. Not had a root canal done, but it might be worth giving him a call to check on his prices.

If you're not familiar with the area Cabarete is 15 minutes by gua gua (20 pesos) from downtown Sosua.

I've heard nothing but good things about him, so I concur, and there's something to be said for the convenience of being so close, specially if an emergency situation arises.

SURFUP69,
I responded to both your PM & email about Dr. Lepe by email this morning before my computer developed gremlins :ermm: Just to clarify - yes a root canal on its own could be done in the time frame you specify, but if it was a a crown & post as well, this would take longer. Best to check with all the dentists you contact about the time frame. I've just logged in on BB's computer to let you know that if you email back, I'm not ignoring you but it may take a day or two to get my computer fixed.

Anything that I can help with?

Bless you for the offer :) There is a tecnico coming in an hour or so - if he can't fix it, I may well be asking for help. It's a boot up issue I've learned from BB, not getting past A drive. Hopefully the tecnico will resolve it - meanwhile I'm catching up on cooking :cheeky:.

If you can get as far as Puerto Plata (half hour drive from Sosua) I've had 4 root canals done in the last 15 years by Dr. Fredy Lepe. Thoroughly recommended & by other posters, too.

My neighbour can also vouch for Dr Lepe. He had a root canal re-work which is apparently trickier than the original. He used a digital x-ray machine which is something you might be lucky to get in the US or UK. I hear his prices are reasonable too, which seems to prove the theory why many Americans come to the DR for cheap but good dental treatment.

I would like to recomend DR Hugo Pereyra... telephone 809 571 1181. I had a route canal done by him for a 10 year old boy and he charged me $120.00 US. He told me that it might be more depending on the situation. I have had my teeth cleaned by him for $30.00. He fixed a friend of mines front chipped and rotten tooth for $30.00. He did an extraction for another friend for $24.00. I watched all of these procedures closely and I found him to be very professional and he seems to genuinely care about his patients. He did a large filling on a back molar for $30.00. Very clean and modern office with an informal but profesional atmosphere.

Want to thank everyone for helping me. I only wish there was someone in Sosua where I will be staying who did Root Canals. Then I could walk in have it done and after go over to Rocky's and have my ribs and a cold one. Thanks again everyone you all have been a great help and hope to see some you when I'm there.

What is this balony about Wendy? I heard she doesn't even have an X ray machine. The new dentist for all expat needs is Dra Yarisa Ripoll. She is specifically specialized in Endodancia - root canals. The office is conventiently located near the Judicial Building on the traffic circle in Puerta Plata. This woman is great. Call 809-261-0094 or 809-816-6308.

Yes Dr. Fredy Lepe does send people to Dr. Ripoll if he feels it's something he couldn't handle so he also thinks she is good. He suggested it to me for one of my root canals but I declined the offer. Nothing whatsoever to do with Dr. Ripoll. I just prefer to stick with those I know who have done good work on me in the past. And he must have been being modest - he was able to do that root canal with no problem whatsoever......... :)
