These are generally 2008 prices. You can see the reference date in the column beside each price.

I confirm that for Italy, today i went to the service station and the green gasoline was at 1,525 ?/l which means more than 9 $/gal.
And gas oil is nearly at 9,5 $/gal.
I think we're the nation with the higher gasoline prices, surely in europe, and the most of the money you pay goes to the state for taxes.
That's another reason why i want to get away from here.

Norway

Last Monday morning I paid NOK 12,49 for a liter of regular 95 octane, that's like 1,58 EUR. Diesel fuel is more expensive still. And, the prices fluctuate through the week, with sudden raises every Monday and Thursday afternoon. In the midst of everything our totally pathetic socialist government has decided to raise gasoline taxes again, effective July 1.

Truckers in England are complaining of $9.08 gal for diesel. Item did not say whether that was Imperial gallon (4 L?) or not.

Regular mid-price gasoline was $3.89 in Florida on Friday. Premium was way over $4.00-> at $4.09 or $4.11 gallon.

Here in the UK our average fuel prices are:-

Unleaded petrol - is ?4.60 a gallon which is 8.56 US$
Diesel is ?5.12 a gallon which is 9.52 US$

A gallon is 4.54 litres here

Everytime you go to fill up it seems to have increased.

Hillbillie all references to gallons are imperial gallons not the same as US gallon which is slightly less.

However the Brits have been paying 2-2.5 times as much for their petrol and diesel than Americans pay for their Gas and derv.

Reason is our government taxes them very highly .....when you follow the full tax trail from exploration to extraction refining and delivery to the petrol stations then to the end user the taxation is about 75% of the price.

Time the UK woke up to the truth I think but it will never happend.

Here in Italy almost 50% of the fuel cost goes in taxes, these taxes:

1- For the war in Abissinia (Mussolini's one) in 1935
2- Suez crisis in 1956
3- The Vajont disaster (which was a huge landslide) in 1963
4- The flood of Florence in 1966
5- The earthwuake in Belice in 1968
6- The earthquale in Friuli in 1976
7- The eartquake in Irpinia in 1980
8- For the mission in Lebanon in 1983
9- For the mission in Bosnia in 1996
10- And the last one for the renewal of the contract for the drivers of bus, trams and trains.

And on these taxes we also pay another tax (IVA), which is a tax on every thing you buy.
There's a lot to think on...

I've cleaned up this thread and deleted stacks of non-relevant comments. Non-relevant to this thread. If you want to report gas prices in your neck of the woods and mention how the prices are made up, so that we can compare in the DR what the state of the rest of the world is, please do so.
If you want to debate peak oil ... choose another forum - theoildrum.com is the leading site on this topic.
If you want to debate the war ... choose another forum - I don't know what the leading site is on this topic. I would imagine there are plenty.
If you want to speculate what will happen in the DR if gas prices reach certain levels, please go ahead.
Thanks to those that will keep to the scope of this thread. Others will be deleted. Please keep to the scope.

Fuel in the UK

Just to let you know......
We currently have a tanker drivers dispute in the UK and because fuel is in short supply in SOME areas - prices are rising.
One garage is today charging ?9 a gallon - 16.65 US $ for unleaded.
Same for diesel.
Good here....... Not! :ermm:
