I can't find any previous posts on this so sorry if everyone's been already but:

I'm sure loads of you have seen the rather "odd" building up the road to Hispaniola Residency (behind the police station) and almost next door to the AMET building. If you haven't it looks a little out of place with spires and - well strange stuff hanging from it. Anyway, it's an art gallery / museum / art shop specialising in some rather "exotic" stuff.

It's run by a German (multilingual) guy called Rolf (the owner, and self acclaimed king of the World) it's not always open but mid-morning should guarantee an entry (it's free). I am not a critic but I've got to say I was blown away by it all - Too much to mention here so go and see for yourselves. A couple of words of warning - There is some "interesting" nudity, and Rolf can be a bit overpowering if you bump into him, but he's interesting if you've got the time to spend chatting. Allow an hour or so and don't be afraid to open a few doors.....

I loved it! 10 out of 10 - It really should be included in any guided tour of the area, and the view from the top is easily worth the climb up the stairs.

Why THANK you Simon & Nicky.
In the 10 years I have been posting on this board I have never seen mention of this Museum - possibly not somewhere frequented by your normal Sosua dwellers (despite the exotic & maybe erotic nudes!!).

I will certainly try to give it a visit the next time I have to visit Sosua ~ Rolf sounds an interesting guy to 'Bump Into'!!

(please don't tell a certain gentleman in Santiago about this - he just won't believe it as he insists there is absolutely NO CULTURE up on the North Coast!! :cheeky: ;)) ~ Grahame.

Well, if you two will be going to Rocky's during the week of August 15-24 (I know Rio won't be there until August), and with the permission of BushBaby and present boyfriend, I'll be honored to be allowed to buy you two lovely ladies a beer and some ribs.

And please understand, no attack on Rio's maidenhood was intended.

How very nice! Thank you. Sounds like we have the makings of a party. I don't know rio's dates but we can organise via PM or email otherwise poor Simon will find his culture thread becoming a Saga holidays charabanc whoopla..........:cheeky:

You're being a gentleman, catcher, and BB is liberated so permission not necessary.

Now, back to Rolf and his gallery of the unusual.

I have been watching this place evolve for several years from the outside only. I did not know that it was open to the public and did not wish to intude.

East of the police station, across from the Texico, go up the hill untill the paved road does a double back, 180 degree turn. Half way at 90 degrees their is a dirt road also going up hill. The place is about 400 feet up the road on the right. You can not miss it.

The outside architecture is different. It should/will be interesting to see what is inside.

Regards, Ringo

TWO points catcher
1. to the best of my knowledge I do not HAVE a boy-friend ;)
2. make sure those ribs have quite a bit of meat on them; Lambada is wasting away with all the writing she is doing!!

Lambada.
Liberated I am to a certain extent but if there is any hanky panky stuff I will send my second around to catcher with notice of pistols at 20 paces the following morning!! Maidens like rio have to be protected - you can (& do) manage quite nicely without my involvement!! :cheeky: :pirate: :ermm: ~ Grahame.

Erotica - Ooh la la!!

What on Earth has been going on while I have been tucked up in bed dreaming of ...... ;)

So, a trip to an erotic museum and lunch at Rockys is on the agenda for August! :cheeky:

Unfortunately catcher I do not arrive until 26th August and so I take it that I will have missed you? Perhaps next time....?

Any other "cultural highlights" we can incorporate into our visit?

First of all I am going to visit this museum in July, just to stay on topic. I am looking forward to it. The erotic mystique has captured my imagination.

Now, BushBaby, my most sincere apologizes. Meo culpa toda. A slight typo on my part, and nothing more. No need for the pistolas, please. In fact, now that respectable Rio has decided to stay that way, perhaps you would care to join us at Rocky's. You and Lambada can pick the time and date and I'll be there. Just let me know, and remember NO PISTOLAS!

Anyone who doesn't know you folks, would likely come to the conclusion that y'all are a few cards short of a full deck, combined with some mild insanity.

Yo??
No way, Rocky. You know how stable I am. I'm like a rock, but I did notice the girl talking in your post is starting to make a lot of sense. I might just vote for her.
