Unfortunately a friend (financially secure) of mine is in need of a kidney. Does anyone have information on how to legally find a donor (In the DR, USA or anywhere else). She would like to have the surgery in a NYC hospital. I dont want to sound goulish, just looking for good information to help her out.

Any good links or other info would be greatly appreciated.

I tried to donate once to my "friend" until i found out that he drank thru his first one that his mom gave to him. and i also saw him drinking and his excuse was it was "new years eve" I know he is going thru hard time but i refuse to give to him. If i was going to donate, i want to give it to right person who appreciates life. I've done some reserch on this subject when i was thinking about it before, matchingdonors.com was a good site. if she has any friends or family who are willing to donate but not the match, they find someone else who is in same situation. if she still can't find anyone, e-mail me I'm type O

Did he go to the new Santiago hospital? I read sometime back that they had a bunch of specialist just for kidney transplants, I know a woman who received one like 8 months ago and shes doing fine now.

I saw on Fox News where there is a place where you can donate an organ. To a bank. Then they find a match for the other person. Moves them up on the list because, and organ has already been donated. My brother had a transplant over 10 years ago. It is not easy. Anti- rejection drugs daily. Very strict diet ETC. No booze, drugs, lots of post operation problems. My father died from kidney problems long ago. I don't think I would go through with it. But to each their own.
