Street Dr.Rosen and David Stern
The town of Sos?a was originally settled by 600 Jewish refugees in the early
1940's. Although many of them left after World War II ended, some stayed and raised families in Sos?a. Their presence is noticeable in street names such as Calle David Stern and Dr.Rosen and in the synagogue they built located on Calle Alejo Mart?nez.

During the rein of repression and corruption under dictator Trujillo,
Puerto Plata was recognized commonly like a bastion of the
antitrujillismo. The first murder in 1930 of the Era of Trujillo,
happened in Sos?a, it was the murder of agriculturist Jose Joaquin
Pelegr?n Culula. January 10, 1960 was formed the "Revolutionary
Movement 14 of June". Pedro Clisante and Alejo Martinez were part of
this movement for the zone of Sosua. They were both imprisoned for treason
January 21,1960.
