There is a news story on DR1 stating that the U.S. travel adv. for the DR is "old". These guys are like clowns or perhaps one of the 3 stooges.
The advisory I read by going to the site was dated June 16, 2008. Another link showed a date of Mar. 2008.

Yes but did they alter the date on the website without altering the content of the first two paras which do indeed look remarkably similar to the stuff I've read there before about a year ago. The only argument against this is Embassy website front page
U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Look on right hand side & scroll down to Current Issues where it says Country Specific Information & highlighted in yellow the word 'New'. Click on that & you get the page which has caused all the steam.

Reference to website being written in 2005 is here:

Don't know that they altered or not and don't think it has importance because:today's travellar reads the current advisorary without comparison to what was written in the past.

BTW-the advisory regarding crime, scams, drinking of the water, malaria, dengue, etc. would turn off a good deal of people looking to go on vacation...don't you think? As for me..who cares I'm leaving for JD Sunday morning. Can't be bothered with the small things have bigger fish to fry.
LOL,

Ok... I did a comparison of the May 9, 2007 advisory to the one updated this week dated June 16...
