I live in Santiago and we want to make a trip to see La Isabela on Thursday. First, I don't know how to get there (driving in our car)...
and I'm looking for an idea of what there is to do there. Any help???

Directions

Take the highway that goes to Imbert and Puerto Plata. You will turn left at Imbert heading towards Luperon.
It's easy.

That is the wrong route.
La Isabela is on the road past Guananico, and one has to take the turn off in the cane fields, a couple of miles before Imbert.
There is a sign for Guananico there.

My glasses are fine, thank you very much, as are my directions.
The 218 from the cutoff in the cane fields, 2 miles South of Imbert to Guananico, then the 29 to La Isabela.

Villa Isabela and La Isabela are one and the same.
You're talking about a little coastal village, las Ruinas La Isabela.
La Isabela is a big place inland, as shown on the map.

1) If it is La Isabela, the town, then you should go to the way Rocky says, turning left to Guananico, a lovely little mountain village
2) If you are planning on going to the first European settlement in the New World, then turn left there at Imbert going through Luperon

3) Note that the road through Guananico is very curvy, so go slow.
