Good afternoon Everyone:

Obviously I am new to this site, which I am very happy to have found.
I was born in the US but both of my parents are Dominican. My husband and I were there a few weeks ago and are now thinking of relocating.
I am a legal assistant/paralegal and am fluent in Spanish and English.
I have started my job search and will be flying in to take an English test for any possible vacancies at the US Embassy.

Does anyone have any idea what the starting salary for a legal assistant/paralegal is?

First, welcome to DR1!

To answer your question, I don't know but it's likely to be much, much lower than what you're used to in the U.S.

As you're in the legal field, I'd encourage you to contact Fabio Guzman's office in the legal section of this site. A well established and respected attorney, Sr. Guzman could provide you with a very accurate sense of what to expect.

Thank you!!

I imagine that the salary will be lower, but that is one of the sacrifices for living in such a beautiful country.

I will post my question in the legal section as well.

If you apply for a job at the Embassy do it from the U.S. The job pay is more comparable to U.S. wages when done that way.
