As I was trying to explain to a friend that I had to refrain from swimming in the ocean (more of an excuse because the wind was blowing like crazy, waves were out of control, and I was just plain scared) due to "female problems". I was at a total lack of words as to how to say I was menstruating, had my period as we say here. How do Dominicans say this? Is there a word or phrase or a common slang that they use?

Yeah, but the right way is to say menstruacion, regla, periodo instead of en luna (sounds like en celo) when you speak about female dogs

Sorry to rain on the humor but that is never said.

However to answer the OP's question, a very good way is to say "Tengo la cuesti?n."
Or, if in the past, "Ten?a..."
Also called "el asunto"

With regards to all,

HB
