Can somebody tell me (in a for dummies way) how to do it in the new highway..

thanks.
leave las americas,go towards Santo Domingo, and about 5 or 6 miles towards SD you will see signs leading you to Las Americas,Samana highway..on the right,..when you enter the highway, there is a toll booth, and 2 more on your way...when the highway ends on the Nagua Sanchez highway, you will go left towards Nagua...good signs there for directions...

When you exit SDQ. toward SD. cross the toll and take the right lane toward to SD.
TAKE THE RIGHT LANE!!!!!!! if don't do it, you will have problem to exit toward Nagaua.

Don't miss it

As previously stated - coming through the toll booth from the SDQ airport take the VERY first exit afterwards to get on the new highway. Miss the exit and you're easily losing 15-20 minutes, if that's important.

AS at last week there were absolutely no direction signs for Samana pista, after about 5/6 kms from SD stay in the left hand lane and you will see what looks like a tunnel between the two pistas, take that, turn back towards SD and with luck you?ll see the sign which is hidden behind an advertising hoarding !!! At the entrance to the autopista there were no signs saying what it was or where it went but in the distance you can see a tool booth.

Sorry, forgot. There were no peepeestops facilities, specially for the girls and nowhere to buy any water and when you get off the autopista, if its lunchtime no shops are open either!

Drove the new road on Sunday from Sabaneta via Nagua down to Juan Dolio, into SD on Monday to do next residencia then back up the new road - very quiet, stress free and a pleasure to travel that way.

avoid driving it at night. we passed many cars on the road that were hard to see until last second. as well, if you see a little boy waving you down at night for help, just keep on driving. my guess is that it's a ploy. other than that, it's a pleasure of a drive. fill up beforehand.

When you leave airport and make left toward Santo Domingo, pass thru the toll booth on Las Americas and stay all the way to the right or you will miss the turn off, once you get off the exit ramp you will be led right onto hwy and in 1 hour you are in Nagua. Enjoy its a nice ride.
