just tried the new mexican place opposite rubies ,,,I enjoyed having something different ...although I didnt try the really hot sauce....another welcome addition to the array of restaurants this is one to try for a change but not somewhere you would want to eat every night - anyone else got anything to add about places to eat

I was thinking of the less well known ones - the sosua news review is a little lacking with some glaring omissions

interesting site I have never seen that one before- I left votes for two places- I think some have changed hands, but it is difficult to keep track, some places only open for two weeks lol

Pedro McMurphy's

We recently tried Pedro McMurphy's and had lunch there twice. Thought the food was great, prices very reasonable and nice atmosphere.

I know its been mentioned before but La Costera (next door to sunshine-invest real estate on Pedro Clisante) gets a high vote from me.

Mexican

I find the new Mexican place tastey, good prices, good salsa and chips all homemade. A very welcome addition to Sosua fare. They even have mol? sauce homemade. A regular stop for us now. Behind La Roca on the road to the beach.

Hi, Recently we ate in a restraunt that was across from the beach ,i am not sure of the name and could not figure out how to post a pic of it ,It had a bohemia especial banner across the entrance and had dark green plastic chairs, The food was very good , portions were big ,price was good and the people who worked there were GREAT ... If anyone knows the name maybe you could post it.

Mexican

Mexican place has a two thumbs up vote from us as well. Nachos are best ever. Nice to have something different to eat in Sosua. Great job by them on presentation and taste. Also a good lesson for those thinking of getting into the food business in the DR - find a niche that isn't being served, instead of opening another pizza or chicken n rice joint...Tom

FYI... if you like the Mexican place.... Ruby's has their menus & the food can be brought to you at Ruby's.

thats interesting ...a bit of co-operation instead of competition...its good for all businesses in that area if they attract more people by co-operating- if it looks busy more people will stay around longer

If I owned the Mexican place, I would re-open from 2AM -4AM and sell a few hundred tacos to all the partiers in "After One". I assume the Casino, when it opens in 2014 will have some sort of food!

With actual prices what you paid for what you ate your post would look even more legit. Glorifying a place without saying prices - in 99% cases - self advertizing.

I am sure that it is not your case, but if you`d care to say how much is different meals and other charges - your info will be even more valuable and useful for prospective patrons/customers/eaters.
!Buen provecho!

I think the only thing on Rocky's menu exceeding 350RD is his large order of ribs, which is still a really good deal given the high quality and quantity of the food served. That, and you get to hang out with the legendary Marco, whose advice is easily worth several times what you paid for the meal.

Another favorite is Morua Moi, which has a nicely diversified menu of high quality items for around 350RD as well. They do have more expensive items such as lobster and other seafood dishes, but it's one of the better deals in the town. Alexandra is rapidly becoming one of my favorite proprietors in the DR.

There are many other fine spots to be sure, but I'm something of a creature of habit. I don't like having a queasy stomach, either because of something in the food or surprises on the bill. Both Marco and Alexandra are owners of establishments that consistently serve up quality food at reasonable prices in very comfortable surroundings.

Everyone mentions rocky's ribs yet I hear few people mention his delicious garlic chicken. Let me tell you, I have had this tasty chicken with German potato's 2 times, yummy yum yum. The garlic becomes part of your soul for the rest of the day but what the heck, I like garlic (keeps the UBH away).
I order 1/2 baked chicken in garlic with german potatoe and an ice cold coke bottle. This makes my day. I think i will show up at rocky's next week with my hommies.

I had dinner there last evening. The restaurant was full so I sat accross from it at The Rose & Thissel (sp) With their permission of course. Has a great meal and bought my beer at the place I was sitting at. That's getting along. Good Luck to both businesses.
