We have a friend who needs coconut shells to use as an art work project. He teaches in a small village just outside of Gran Parada. Ideally the shells need to be sliced length ways. This is a missionary school so no funds are available. thanks Phil

There are always piles of them along the roadside in the Nagua area, but whether they are available for the taking I have no idea.

I have two large trees in front of my house, you can come get them any time and cut them however you wish!!

Yes, Nagua has a coconut processing area, and the entire peninsula is one big coco plantation. But really, any town remotely near the coast has coconuts either naturally occurring or brought in for sale for their milk(or aqua)as a roadside beverage. I can't remember where exactly is Gran Parada.

Your friend can go to any bakery that uses coconuts.
My father used to lease his bakery to a coconete maker and he was ordering a lot of coconuts. No need to clean them, ready to crack open. Maybe they will allow you to help them crack the coconut open as you desire.
Old memories, during that time we never drank water but free coconut water.
Good luck
