Anyone going to Cabarete during these dates. We will be stayinging in the Viva Wyndham Tangerine. There will be 8 guys going down for some down time from work and life. Is anyone else going to be there during this time???? What are the good places to go to and on what nights? I have read a lot of information, is Coco Bongo a good place to go in Playa Dora?

September is one of the slowest months as it is the peak of Hurricane season...but there is always people out at night...especially on the weekends...same is true of Playa Dorada. Weeknights can be pretty slow though.

I'm arriving in Puerta Plata 16/09/08, are any of the tours worthwhile?

We considered a day on a catamaran and a monster truck tour, any good?

badpiece and Royat what are the ages of the people that you are going to the DR with. I just called the viva wyndum tangerine to move rooms and they said that the hotel is sold out. Can that be. Is it going to be busy like that, or is it ussally sold out?????

I am trying to get a picture of what type of vacation I am looking at. Quiet with little people to party with or wild with tons of people to drink and party with?

Anyone ever go in spetember and have it be really crazy?

If you hook up with badpiece your trip will be anything but quiet. He also is known to have a couple of drinks every now and then.

Tangerine is always pretty full because it's the best and closest all-inclusive for Cabarete. It's not known for a wild party scene, but Cabarete Beach is (on weekend nights)...Sosua can get pretty wild at night (Classicos and Latinos) and Playa Dorada clubs on the weekends...doesn't really matter what time of year if you're here for the weekend.

Overall, the daytime scene is pretty quiet - good for recovering from the night before and relaxing on the beach! On that note...Id recommend Sosua Beach over Cabarete beach...especially on Saturdays and Sundays...if you want people around you, and/or like to wade in the ocean.

Ocean Sands disco is not open anymore. The Lighthouse disco at Ocean World Cofresi (just past Puerto Plata) is though. Keep in mind that will be a pretty long (and somewhat dangerous) drive back to Cabarete though. THere are sometimes afterhours parties in Cabarete...just ask around as things are winding down...the locals will let you know if anything's happening and where to go.

As far as being a good plan, it should be... but I'd suggest doing Cabarete Sat. night...it's usually better than Friday...and if you want to go to Playa Dorada, do that Friday...

There's no big "night" Thiursday that Im aware of...that's why I suggested Sosua as the two main bars there are almost always crowded and there's an afterhours club within walking distance (AfterOne).

thanks Davidz

Lighthouse is good though??? I heard that is the place to go after everything closes in cabarete?

That is what we will do Sousa on thurs and Playa Dora on friday and Cabarete on Sat.

If anyone else has any good advice please le me know as we are going in 8 days.

Lighthouse *can* be good...but it's a pretty long drive from Cabarete... Cabarete bars close at 3 am...I think Playa Dorada bars and Lighthouse are open till 5 am or later

Myself and my wife are over to celebrate her 50th birthday but don't let ages fool you we can party with the best of them. Scottish and alcohol go hand in hand.

We're staying for 2 weeks in the Gran Ventana (Playa Dorada) and are looking forward to doing pretty much nothing but have a good time - loads of sun, loads of sleep and no sobriety.

Any volunteers to help drink the island dry?
