I've stayed at both the hotel and the condo...and had a great time, either way. If you're on a tight budget, the hotel will do just fine. If you want to splurge a little more, go for the condo, as it will give you more privacy, the ability to cook your own meals, free Wi-Fi, and access to the pool. The walk from the condo to the center of Sosua is not bad..about 10 minutes.

I've stayed at Rocky's a couple of times. As Alan mentioned, the rooms are basic, clean, and reasonably prices, around 25 US dollars, I think.

I enjoyed it there because it was so close to everything in town, and being there allowed for easy access to all the other activities and many interesting people.

It's not a place to stay if you are looking for a luxury resort, but if you want to see Sosua up close and personal, Rocky's is a great place to be. Also, the food is very good, consistant, and reasonably priced as well.

You seem to know the area, so you must have some idea about the safety. There is no particular problem at or close to Rocky's. As you know, it is in the middle of town, in a well lighted area, and with many people around.

The condo is not the same as Rocky's. It is about 5 minutes away. You should contact Rocky directly for more specific information.

The condos are in the Tradewinds complex, about a 10-minute walk from Rocky's, right off the road to Cabarete. I believe the entrance to the Tradewinds is called Caribe Campo, but I'm not sure about that.

I felt very safe staying at the hotel.

Hi folks...

As a 68 year old male I can't vouch for Marc's butt. But as for safety....keeeeerips...safest place in town.

My first trip in town I was a bit hesitant to walk up the street late at night to my hotel (New Garden) Marc had his doggie (Bruno)"escort" me. Dang, the doggie is smarter than I am... AND, as a Rhodesian Ridgeback, I would not want to be around ol' Bruno when he's in a bad mood. He'd chew up the best of the pit bulls.

Bruno's there 24/7, sleeping days, working nights, (I call him the night manager)bumming some bacon, having fun chasing some dog in the "play" area.

Bruno is on the watch! He looks intimidating enough, but he won't bother you...unless you give him cause. He's mostly there to safeguard the premises from undesirables.

If you stay at the hotel, which is inside Rocky's Restaurant, you'll only be making a two- or three-minute walk from the clubs. If you stay at the condos, take a moto home, for about 50 pesos. You'll get home in a few minutes, get dropped off in front of where you're staying, and it'll only be about a three-minute ride.

Everything should turn out fine for you. Try to catch a moto in front of one of the clubs/discos, and tell the driver you're heading to the Tradewinds (tray-weens, so he understands better :glasses:).

Rocky's is not a chica pick-up place, per se. If you're looking for female company, you might be better off looking elsewhere. However, if you're looking for tasty food, cold beer, and a great ambience, Rocky's is one of several places for that. The Brittania Bar, PJ's, and even Bailey's are other such places. If you find yourself on the beach, try Siempre Sol, the Scandinavian Bar, or even Manny's place.
