There must be, and one way of finding out would be to ask the chess players on the Conde pedestrian shopping street in the Colonial Zone.

Many Chess clubs in the DR~
Pichardo

Pichardo,
Would you please be more specific?

Where are the chess clubs located, and what criteria is used for membership? Are certain chess clubs restrictive with regard to membership?

Are there any on the North Coast? Do any clubs compete internationally? Do any clubs do outreach to schools or community organizations?

I'd would be interested in finding out more about any and all of these clubs.

You can go to the Dom Chess Federation right there in the Olympic center, it is located towards the back of the swimming pool, to the side of the Judo Federation and not far from the warm up track. Very easy to find. A small building on the right side of the road if you are heading west.
