Not an easy task meeting people here. Although I have lived in the DR and the States many years, and although I speak both languages no thread has spun further than two or three responses. Weird...

You've started seven threads, three of which have had more than "two or three responses". It really helps if you come back into threads you've started, either with a follow-up question, clarification in response to other posters, or at least acknowledgment of the responses so far.

In fact, I get the impression you haven't come back to any of your threads, except for the one that generated a good number of responses.

Is the problem that not many resident DR1'ers have agreed to meet you? It might not be an easy task getting residents to meet you because most of us are busy people. Sometimes a little explanation of why it might be a good thing to meet you is necessary.

For example, we have appointments with 5 different sets of tourists &/or potential retirees in the next couple of weeks - 3 are bringing stuff for local charities which they will be taken to, to donate to the children. The other two want to come and live here & volunteer their skills to help the Dominican population - one of these has medical skills. Of course I would jump at the chance to meet him because he is going to help those in need.

It might sound harsh, Missskittin, but I think all of us prioritise in one way or another.

And the other explanation is that residents who spend much of their time socialising with tourists might not even be posting on DR1. You can find them however, in many of the local bars. :)
