about 10 minutes drive if you are a gringo, 5 minutes if dominican and 20 minutes with 20 stops in a guagua (public transport)...

Good, thanks, so I guess it's not expensive to take the public transportation or a taxi to go there. Is it dangerous if I go visit the Haitian village of
ascension (near Monte llano).

Ascension is a little distance from monte llano, at least a motorcyle taxi distance any way. Not sure of the cost from monte llano to Ascension, but can't be much. The medical clinic is open on Wednesdays and Sundays, enjoy.

Is this mostly Haitian living there (Ascension)

There are about 1,600 Haitians in that village. Dr. Bob runs a clinic there twice a week. Also, a couple, not sure if they are Canadian or American, but are at the village most week days helping out.
