Apartment Feedback

We're looking for an apartment in the DR for a 3 month stay starting this December. It must have high speed Internet and ideally we'd like to have a pool and be close enough to a supermarket to not require our own vehicle.

We are currently considering Las Ca?as Apts in Sosua (Judy Rae) and the listing P-60 (David Ostien).

Can anyone comment on one or both of these units? What about their location?

Has anyone had experience dealing with either of these individuals?

Any other thoughts / suggestions on finding an apartment to meet this criteria?

I have been up there once and it is very tranquil and quite nice asthetically,

Judy's reputation is excellent from the many posts I have read.

They have a shuttle, as it is a few minutes to the heart of Sosua.

The DR1 rental section has alternatives.

Hopes this helps.

Has anyone been by David's unit, in Puerto Chiquito?

Las canas is very far from sosua.

As general advise, you should avoid to rent by the internet, for 3 months you better get some apartment addresses from this forum, then go to a hotel in sosua an spend some days searching, now its a buyers market, youl'll get a better apartment and price.

drevo32 - thanks for the thoughts. Our original plan was to do exactly what you suggested (hotel first, then find apartment), but as we started looking into it we got concerned that most apartments would require a 6 month stay, and potentially we may not be able to find a place over the holiday season. For this reason we started looking for something via the Internet. In addition, because we don't (yet) speak Spanish, I wasn't sure how easy it would be get an apartment their anyhow.

Do you think we might be able to find some ideas online, and use the feedback from these forums to filter them? Any other suggestions / thoughts?

Very good advice. Rent for a week, walk around, maybe take a trip to Cabarete, see what u prefer. You will have NO problem finding a place even if u come down in december.
