You can find TX Hold em at the Majestic Casino at the Hilton Hotel (very slow game when I played there), Diamante Casino (there seemed to be collusion there), Intercontinental Hotel (heard they had a good game there).

There is a small casino that has a lot of poker action, called the Kuana Mea (spelling?), the Dominican Poker Room in the back has all legit games.

The casino at the Fiesta Hotel had a good game.

There are no games at the Jaragua.

Gringo:

Is there actually a game spread at Breezes every night, or is there just a dealer sitting there all alone and lonely?

If there is actually a game, details pls: tournament or cash, stakes, rake, average buy-in etc.

I would be both surprised and interested to hear there was a real game at Breezes, as there hasn;t been for some time.

Cheers!

Playa Chiquita - Sosua

Has a very friendly tournament game most nights. Starts around 10:30pm buy in 1000 pesos or $30. Repeat buy-ins are allowed for the first 15 minutes or so. I've never witnessed any cheating - there's even a husband and wife who occassionally play and do their very best to wipe the other out first. The pot is usually split two (sometimes three) ways. You can go heads-up if you really want but usually the other players prefer to crack on with another game. Naurally, drinks are FOC. You would be VERY unlucky (or a cr&p player) to loose more than 100 dollars in an evening.

Joe I'm in and out of the Hotel every other day and happened to notice the billboard advertising the TX Hold em game. The hotels occupancy is at 25% so I wouldn't think you would find much action unless players coming in from outside...
Next time I'm by I will inquire and post.

Coachman the Casino has a lot of legal problems going on presently such as a class action suite. I believe their trouble is over the progressive roulette table. So this could very well be true.

I read on the Casino door today the buy in for the game at Breezes is RD$2000.00 but as the Casino is closed during the day I can't tell you about the action.
I noticed the Harrison's Jewelers next door has closed its doors after 12 years at Breezes, definatly not a good sign...

How can u say u have to either be unlucky or a crappy player to lose more then $100 playing in a $33(1000 peso buyin game) buy in tourney with rebuys?

Lets say u play for 4 or 5 hours. Thats about 7 tourneys u will be entered in. With 8 or 9 players at a table, that means u got to win one of those 7 tourneys just to break even.

They rake something like %20 or more as the casino cut and the bad beat jackpot.

To lose $100, all u need to do is play in two tourneys where u made one rebuy and didnt finsih in the top two. More then half the players will fit into this category. There is a %50-%50 chance u will be a $100 loser after the second tourny that is played.

Ps, is playa chiquita casino the only game in Sosua? Im going next week and wouldnt mind having a few games of poker thrown into my vacation. thanks
