Why not try to get a "shared-spot-deal" in/at one of the casetas along Sosua Beach?
I've seen Henna Tattoo artist do business that way all around the globe... Well, "business"... shall we say survive and enjoy a "Boheme" live style on a beach somewhere.

Uhm....that's pretty general, do you mean that every resort in an around sosua has a full time henna artist available at all hours 7 days a week.....

not sure why you are being so short about it?!? Are you a henna artist?

Well that is an actual suggestion that could work..... I think the last poster might just be one of those artists and they don't seem to think that another henna artist is what Sosua needs.....

Henna artistry or any artistry for that matter is not usually a full time income, its just one of many that all adds up.

Oh well...... might have to be a little more creative, was thinkin more of resorts that might want a visiting artist once a week or something to add to thier activities list......thanx for the suggestion tho and the open heart and mind especially!

It isn't directed at you, you'll see from his other posts that jrhartley specialises in one-liners. I'm sure there are some who would call him an .... artist but he isn't a henna artist, as far as I'm aware. Actually, face to face he's a nice chap & pretty chatty .

There are a number of tattoo places in Puerto Plata also but I'm sorry I wouldn't have a clue whether they use henna or cochineal or amaranth or..........cherry juice .

You could try Ana's Salon in Cabarete. It is a full service and popular Tattoo parlor as well. The artist there does Henna, but maybe they could use some help.

its applied with henna dye ...and its temporary as long as you dont use the wrong dye.
it should be brownish- people often want the black tattoos done but a respectable place wouldnt use these as they can cause skin reaction and in some cases permanent scarring

looks like jr knows his stuff!!!

He is right....lots of people are using this black dye, calling it henna which likely it is but with added black acid....people have been left with scars the shape of thier tattoos and I have met some who got them in the DR too!!!

Henna is a leaf from a plant that is crushed and mixed with essential oils (mostly heating oils like cinnamon, eucalyptus and tea tree) Then it is mixed and allowed time to cure so to speak (3 hrs to 3 days) then it is put in an applicator and applied to the skin in fancy designs of any fashion. The paste is thick and looks much like baby poops! It is left on the skin from 2-24 hours. During this process the internal body heat sucks the dye into the first layer of skin. The tattoo, which in its natural form only comes in a dark reddish brown color (like burnt sienna) will last as long as it takes for you to exfoliate (time it takes for all those skin cells to die and be washed away 1 week to 6 weeks at most - much longer on 12 year old boys who don't bathe much!) providing you do not soak the tattoo in the first 24 hours. Lots of artists work with stencils (we don;t consider these people artists) others work from drawings and some confident independent types such as myself free hand off the top of thier heads!!!

It is a performance art and gives a great opportunity for people who love art but can't do it themselves to become the canvas in a way where there is little to no committment except for the time it takes to sit through the application process. Its Jolly good fun!
