Construction on Autopista Las Americas

The last time I was in Boca Chica, it was difficult to drive to Santo Domingo because of the construction work taking place on Las Americas Highway. Is the construction work finished? How are the driving conditions? I will be back in a month and plan on renting a car to make trips into La Capital. Any info will be appreciated. Thank you very much.

The works stopped after the government change. They resumed just a few weeks ago. Traffic is OK. Be careful though during heavy rain, some parts between Boca Chica and Juan Dolio get flooded.
