Spam is used to try to sell you something, usually there a link attached.
Spam might stand out because the content has no real connection to the thread, or more likely, they might start a thread with some enticing title to grab your attention.
Generally, spam is easy to spot.

If you see spam on the board, click on the report post button.
Please do not respond in the thread, it just means double work for us deleting the scum spammers and your post.

I just reported 3 spam posts but have a question: how does one know if the post has already been reported but not yet deleted by you guys? or does it matter...should we just report regardless..thanks

Ah, ancient moderator secret. Just report away. If you you see a post, then it hasn't been deleted.
